Hello Winnisquam Community,
As many of you may have noted, the weather has started to shift and we have already experienced some early signs of winter's approach. In anticipation of the arrival of snow or other weather related concerns, I will be sending a one call message out to everyone in our system as a way of ensuring both you and our communication system are prepared for the possible weather delays, dismissals, and cancellations ahead. Please share with your neighbors and beyond that this message will be sent by the One Call System at 12:00 noon on Thursday, October 25 and will be sent as both a call and text. If you do not receive a call and/or text and wish to receive one or both, please contact your school's main office to update contact information and ensure you are signed up properly through the One Call system. All of this information is also available through our district site.

Thank you for taking a moment to help ensure you and our communication system are ready for winter.

Have a great day.

For over a month, I have been visiting student spaces and activities all over the district and beyond. I have observed educators, parents and other community members support our students as they become more engaged in hands-on learning and dedicated to embedding life beyond school with the daily activities within school.

From kindness rocks, Fall Family Fun Festival, homecoming, and Chaos & Kindness to hands-on labs, models, robotics, and our new greenhouse, students have been learning language, math, science, social studies, arts and technology and how to connect this learning to real world problems and applications. I have seen this with our youngest in preschool and kindergarten, to our oldest as they explore career opportunities and consider life after high school.

These are truly exciting times at WRSD, with a renewed sense of energy as we build off of these early experiences and look to engage ever-more members of our school community and beyond in developing brighter futures for all of our students.

To learn more about the exciting activities going on in our district and community, please check out our monthly State of the District Newsletters.

We are now pretty locked in with the Vision Statement for the district for our new 5 year Strategic Plan and are looking to develop a logo that represents this new language. To come up with it, Superintendent Seaward has developed a Logo Creation Competition. Anyone wishing to develop a logo and submit their entry for consideration should do so between now and November 15 @ 4:00 pm. All entries will be judged and a finalist selected. The finalists work will then be further developed (with the creator) in conjunction with professional artists and marketing experts to make into a final product that can be added to everything from our website to banners and letterheads and more. A great opportunity for someone to help develop the face of WRSD.

Here are the details:

  • Our Vision Statement = Engaging our Community for Brighter Futures - Click here to check out the vision site for more details and insights.
  • The logo must be reflective of the vision and mission
    • Please note that the mission and support materials are still very much being tweaked, refined, and reworked, however, the vision is pretty locked in at this point.
  • There are no restrictions on what is created, number of colors, size, etc. This competition is designed to capture the idea of a logo, not a finished product. Even those with limited artistic abilities can and should try as it is all about your ideas finding their way to paper in some format that can be considered.
  • While the internet can inspire ideas, the work CAN NOT be copyrighted or trademarked materials.
